The day after Abbey's field trip, Juliette's class got to go pick out pumpkins! It wasn't exactly at a patch, but they brought a bunch of pumpkins to the field by the church and let the kids run around and pick one. But first, they sang some Halloween songs for us!

Firehouse Field Trip
Abbey had a field trip to our local Firehouse during October, which is fire safety month. Juliette and I went along as chaperones. First we listened to the firemen talk to us about fire safety. Then they told us about their average day at the station. They work for 24 hours and then have 2 days off. They eat, sleep, and watch TV at the station on their work day in between calls. It was pretty interesting to tour.

My favorite part was when the fireman put on his whole fire suit (mask included) and had the kids come up and touch him and get close. The point of this was that if the kids were in a fire, they wanted the kids to be able to recognize a firefighter and not be afraid of them (because they can look pretty scary with the mask on). I thought that was a great idea to show the kids!

Uncles Visit!
Uncle Al had some vacation time, so he flew up to Louisville to see Uncle David and his family for half a week and then Uncle David drove him up to Chicago to finish out his vacation! They stayed with Aunt Domi, but they came to see us at our house before going there. The girls had fun with Uncle Al!

And oh were they excited to get some dancing outfits that Uncle David brought them passed down from their cousins!
David also brought up an amazing doll house that he made for his daughter 9 years ago. The girls absolutely love it and it will fit perfectly in their room. I am still waiting for their new dresser to arrive, but once it does, than I can really get to decorating and finishing up their big girl room. I will post pictures of it when it is done, along with a picture of their new amazing doll house. Thank you so much Uncle Al and Uncle David for visiting us!!

Pumpkin Patch
We spent a nice Sunday afternoon at Goebbert's Pumpkin Patch! I guess we weren't the only ones with that idea because it was packed! This is us making the hike from the car to the entrance!

I recently read an article about mothers are not in enough pictures with their kids. The article was saying it was because they usually didn't like to look at pictures of themselves, but that it was important to be in pictures with your kids so they have these pictures when they are older and can look back on the moments. I am rarely in pictures with the kids, but that is mostly because I am usually the one taking the pictures! But today, Paul grabbed the camera and took some great shots - thanks hon!

Tiger Scout Halloween Party
To start off the Halloween festivities, we went to the Tiger Scout Halloween party! Similar to last year, we have so many dress up clothes that the kids get to pick what they want to wear for each Halloween event (and there are many, many Halloween events)! So, for the first Halloween event, Juliette decided to be a bee (thank you Patch for the costume), Abbey was a cheerleader and Ben was a ninja. Ben decided about a month ago that he wanted to be a black ninja. We tried to convince him to wear his white karate outfit, but he wasn't buying it. Luckily, his good friend Aiden also takes karate and wears a black outfit, so they let us borrow it! They brought it to the party for him to change into, so these pre-party shots don't have Ben in his complete costume unfortunately.

For this party the parents were also encouraged to dress up, which isn't really my thing, but here is what I came up with. Oddly, this used to be a dog costume that Libby had used! And ironically, after we got home, Belle chewed up the headband :(
Ben's pumpkin won 1st place in the scariest pumpkin contest and he got a trophy! It is amazing what a little dry ice can do!
