Summer Fun

We have been having lots of fun this summer! It actually hasn't been very warm, but we did make it to the pool on one of the hotter days. Abbey really enjoyed the water and splashing around in the kids pool, but also enjoyed lounging around on her towel too.

Ben can't get enough of the water. Our pool has a great kids area with fountains, which Ben really likes (see below). They also have a zero depth pool that eventually goes about 4 feet deep, so he likes swimming around in there too. And finally, there is a kids slide in the shallow end of the big pool too! Even with all the kid friendly areas, Ben still likes going with us in the deeper water and holding his breath to go under water. He is a big fan of all the pool has to offer!

Yesterday was beautiful weather, so we decided to take the train downtown and go to the Field museum. Ben was very excited to actually ride the train that Mommy gets on to go to work sometimes.

Everyone had fun at the Field museum and we got the family membership, so I am sure we will be back once the new baby is a little older.

Abbey's 1 Year Appointment

Now that Abbey is a big 1-year old, it was time to go see the doctor again...which Abbey hates!! She started to scream as soon as we started to put her on the scale and didn't really stop until all doctors or nurses had left the room. She starts to shake because she is so scared and crying so hard - poor thing! But, it must be done! She weighed in at 20 lbs 8 oz and was 28.5 inches tall, which put her in the 30th percentile (which is pretty consistent with how she has been all along). Still a little peanut to us as Ben has always been in the 75-85 percentile! Unfortunately, Abbey has been under the weather recently and although I took her to the doctor on Monday and they thought she was fine, she has apparently gotten worse and now has an ear infection. Plus, she has had a rash for almost 2 weeks now (another reason I had taken her in on Monday). So the doctor prescribed some ointment for that. So, we left with 2 perscriptions and an appointment to come back in 3 weeks to get checked again. The only benefit of that was that they didn't give her any shots at this appointment because they wanted her to be well first. The bad news is we have to take her back for another traumatizing appointment in 3 weeks and hopefully get shots then (meaning she will hopefully be better by then and can get them). Between screaming her head off and spending a long time at the store waiting to get the prescriptions, Abbey was exhausted and is currently headed into hour 3 of an incredible power nap! Rest up and get better baby girl!

Birthday Time!

We found Abbey in a new hiding spot today.

I do, I like that party hat.

You have to have milk with Chocolate cake.

Tada! the cake is gone!

Presents!

Mommy got to do the honors this year.

Abbey likes her new chair that Caroline gave her.

She likes it better this way.

Later after everyone had left.....Someone was caught in the act.

4th of July

We had lots of fun celebrating the 4th of July. Abbey and Ben got to be in a parade at school through the halls of Motorola.

Here is an action shot of the parade.

We also went to our friend Joey's Birthday 1st birthday. They had a moonwalk that Abbey and Ben really enjoyed.

We also had a lot of fun playing bags. Ben beat dad.

On the 4th we went to a parade in Arlington Heights. The weather was a little overcast but the rain held off. The highlight of the parade was everyone booing at the atheist truck that drove in the parade.
