Alaska Day 6

On Day 6 the men went out on Josh's fishing boat for a day of drinking and smoking cigars...oh, and fishing (at least that was the excuse) on Prince William Sound! They had a really fun time, thank you Josh for taking them! The rest of us went on a glacier tour out of Whittier on Prince William Sound.  Abbey, Virginia and Ben waiting for the boat.

Some of the scenery from our boat!

We got to see a lot of bald eagles.

And sea otters playing in the water!

And this beautiful glacier!

You can tell a glacier by the blue tint of the ice, which is quite beautiful.

This was an exciting thing to see because every few minutes some of the glacier would break off and fall into the water.  The sound of the cracking was loud and the splash it made was pretty big.  It was a really cool thing to see and experience.  I guess some people would make some sort of political statement about global warming at this point, but I just took in the beauty of God's creation.

The kids enjoyed seeing the glacier break off too.

We were lucky in that there was a national park ranger on the boat to point things out to us and give us extra information.  Also, she had a junior ranger program on board that the kids did, so here they are getting their junior ranger badges!  Ben really enjoyed this aspect of the cruise.

My junior rangers!!!

Ben has decided he wants to be a ranger for Halloween, since he already has the hat and badge, although there is still a lot of time between now and then so we'll see if he changes his mind.

Juju on the lookout for some wildlife!

It was a fun cruise, but no whale sightings, which was disappointing.  And here is some of the scenery along the Alaska highway from Anchorage to Whittier...beautiful!
